PROVO Tahitian Noni International, which makes drinks and beauty and nutritional products from the South Pacific's noni fruit, has cut 85 jobs in Provo and American Fork.
Company president John Wadsworth says the company is shifting its focus toward direct sales instead of retail sales of its product at lifestyle centers and cafes.
The layoffs represent about 7 percent of the company's global work force of 1,200. The company has 600 employees at a Provo headquarters and 250 workers at a manufacturing, distribution and research center in American Fork.
Wadsworth returned from a three-year assignment as a mission president for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and replaced Kelly Olsen as president in July.
