Auction set for Friberg work
The painting, which depicts the visit of Jesus Christ to the ancient peoples of the Americas, was part of a series commissioned by then-General Primary President Adele Cannon Howells of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
This particular painting, however, was never sold to Howells, according to Michael Briscoe, public relations manager of Friberg Fine Art Inc. Friberg kept the painting himself but has now agreed to make it available for purchase.
The painting is 61 inches wide and 43 inches high, in an ornate custom wood frame. The auction pre-estimate of value is $700,000 to $1 million.
Registered bidders must have a check in the amount of $25,000, payable to Erkelens & Olson Auctioneers, to qualify for the auction. For information, auction qualifications and to RSVP, contact Rob Olson at 801-355-6655 or by e-mail at info@salesandauction.com.
