• The Weber State University Bonneville Youth Orchestra will hold auditions Oct. 13, 4-6 p.m., in Room 133 of the Val A. Browning Center on the WSU campus in Ogden.
Auditions will be held on an appointment-only basis. All students auditioning must come prepared to perform a solo piece of their choice and a major scale in three octaves for stringed instruments, two octaves for string bass, winds and brass.

• "Messiah A Community Celebration," Monday, 6:30 p.m., The Grand Theatre, 1575 S. State.
This annual event blends the traditional and choral arrangement of Handel's "Messiah" with the spirited energy of gospel. Those auditioning for solos should prepare a classical or gospel style song, an accompanist will be provided.

• "Jubilate," a chamber choir based in Salt Lake, has openings for basses and tenors. Rehearsals are Monday nights, September though mid-June. Auditioners are asked to rehearse with the choir for three weeks and have a short, formal audition afterward. Visit www.jubilate.org or call Jane, 520-2855.
