The IRS wants to give money to the more than 10,500 Utahns who have yet to claim their economic stimulus payments.
The IRS is coming to town next week to help residents file a 2007 tax return so they can get their checks, largely issued over the summer. Free help is available for those with at least $3,000 in earnings, or receive Social Security, disability or other federal benefits and don't normally file income taxes.
The stimulus payment is up to $300 per person of $600 per married couple filing jointly.
The event is hosted by the IRS, United Way of Utah and Utah Community Action Partnership Association. It is at Central City Community Center in Salt Lake City, Saturday, Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring photo ID for yourself and your spouse (both must be present if filing jointly), Social Security numbers, 2007 statements showing government benefits, wages, earnings and expenses information.
