Chicago Cubs playoff tickets are fetching the most money on the resale market as the team tries to win its first world championship in 100 years.

The average selling price of the three Cubs games at Wrigley Field in Chicago against the Los Angeles Dodgers is $320, according to StubHub, a subsidiary of EBay Inc. and the official ticket reseller of Major League Baseball.

"The Cubs are leading the charge because of the starvation factor," StubHub spokesman Sean Pate said in an interview.

No baseball team has gone as long without winning a championship than the Cubs. The franchise last won the World Series in 1908, and hasn't even advanced to the championship round since 1945.

The best-of-five first round of this year's baseball playoffs begin today. The Cubs host the Dodgers today and tomorrow, and again on Oct. 7 if necessary.

The Cubs finished this season with a 97-64 record and captured the National League Central Division for the second straight year. It was the most wins by the franchise since its last trip to the World Series. Only the Los Angeles Angels had a better mark this year at 100-62.

Potential World Series tickets for the Cubs at Wrigley are selling for an average of $2,783 on StubHub. That would surpass the previous high of almost $1,500 for the 2005 World Series home games for the Chicago White Sox. The average sale price for baseball's championship round is about $1,000, Pate said.

StubHub generates revenue by charging ticket sellers a 15 percent fee and ticket buyers a 10 percent fee.

First-round playoff tickets for the defending champion Boston Red Sox vs. the Los Angeles Angels at Fenway Park are selling for an average $194 on StubHub, the second-highest price behind the Cubs. Tickets for the Milwaukee Brewers, who are making their first postseason appearance since 1982, are selling for the third-most at $184.

The Tampa Bay Rays, who play the White Sox, have the lowest sale price on StubHub at $87 for the franchise's first playoff games in its 11-year history.
