Police arrested three men who allegedly assaulted a man and stole his car in the parking lot of Wal-Mart on Monday afternoon.
Police said three men approached the victim at the Wal-Mart at 350 W. Hope Ave. One of the men struck him in the back of the head, another pulled a gun and ordered him into the car. The four of them drove to 400 N. 900 West where they dumped the victim and drove off with his car. The man walked a block before he was able to borrow a phone and call for help.
A South Salt Lake police officer later spotted the stolen vehicle and followed it until it stopped near 4110 S. 570 East where the three men ages 18, 23 and 42 were arrested, police said. A handgun was found in the vehicle.
