SYRACUSE — The U.S. Postal Service is opening a first-of-its-kind post office inside the Syracuse City Hall.

A grand opening will be held today at 10 a.m., though the contract postal unit, or CPU, has been operating since Sept. 18.

Until the CPU opened in Syracuse, residents had to drive to post offices in Clearfield, Layton or Kaysville.

Hours for the post office will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. It will be closed weekends and holidays.

The Postal Service is launching the CPU program to provide retail postal services to fast-growing communities.

Syracuse City Hall is located at 1979 W. 1900 South.
