2. Alta (5-1) Class: 5A
Was: 2. Points: 335. Last week: Beat Skyline, 45-21.
Outlook: Hawks played like they had something to prove last weekend. Next up: vs. Brighton, Friday.
3. Cottonwood (6-0) Class: 4A
Was: 3. Points: 327. Last week: Beat West, 40-0.
Outlook: Showdowns with Highland and East over the next two weeks will determine who's going to win Region 6. Next up: at Highland, Friday.
4. Layton (5-1) Class: 5A
Was: 4. Points: 308. Last week: Beat Northridge, 17-14.
Outlook: Phew, Lancers survived another close, close call. Next up: at Clearfield, Friday.
5. Sky View (6-0) Class: 4A
Was: 6. Points: 278. Last week: Beat Bonneville, 34-24.
Outlook: Sky View will take a break from Region 5 this week before closing the season with three huge league encounters. Next up: at Highland, Idaho.
6. Bingham (4-2) Class: 5A
Was: 7. Points: 270. Last week: Beat West Jordan, 38-7.
Outlook: The way Region 3 played out on opening night, it's tough to see Bingham not repeating as region champs. Next up: vs. Kearns, Thursday.
7. Northridge (4-2) Class: 5A
Was: 5. Points: 261. Last week: Lost to Layton, 17-14.
Outlook: It all started off so well for Northridge last weekend, but the Knights must now learn from what happened to them the rest of the way. Next up: at Syracuse, Friday.
8. Pleasant Grove (5-1) Class: 5A
Was: 8. Points: 259. Last week: Beat Timpanogos, 27-7.
Outlook: Trip to Lone Peak on Friday will probably determine who eventually wins the Region 4 title. Next up: at Lone Peak, Friday.
