MormonTimes.com: Mormon Media Observer: Marriage propositions coverage is incomplete
Incomplete news reporting shows people of faith, including members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as intolerant if they support marriage as a union between man and woman.
Media framing often pits people of faith against those who support gay marriage, giving little attention to the deeply held beliefs that motivate those who support a traditional marriage definition.
Efforts to codify a traditional definition of marriage are moving forward as Proposition 8 in California and Proposition 102 in Arizona. LDS Church members and others involved in the fight have been easy targets in simplistic media coverage. Most often, it's contributions, name-calling and polls that make headlines.
