A man wanted in southern Utah for the gruesome kidnapping, rape and torture of a 16-year-old girl has been arrested in Florida.
Mark Clifton Bryant, 47, was arrested Thursday morning at a Jacksonville, Fla., Golden Corral restaurant on a federal warrant, the FBI said.
"Bryant was arrested pursuant to viewer tips provided to 'America's Most Wanted,' " FBI Special Agent Juan Becerra said. "He was working there."
Bryant was booked into the Duval County Jail, where he is being held without bail. He vanished from St. George just as his trial was set to begin in April for kidnapping, child abuse, criminal solicitation, terroristic threats, witness tampering and rape. Bryant was convicted in absentia.
He is accused of raping the girl, then tying her to a bed and torturing her with a blowtorch and a screwdriver in 2004.E-MAIL: bwinslow@desnews.com
