ALPINE — A woman was taken to the hospital by helicopter earlier Thursday after a rollover that closed down part of I-15.

Utah Highway Patrol trooper Cameron Roden said a Centerville woman in her mid-20s was in car headed north on I-15 near mile post 284 around noon when one of her tires shredded and caused her vehicle to roll.

A helicopter transported the woman to Intermountain Medical Center, Roden said. She was in critical condition.

Troopers had to close down all but two northbound I-15 lanes while the helicopter landed. The freeway has since reopened.

The agency is investigating speed as a possible factor in the crash.
