Boart Longyear Ltd., a Salt Lake City-based provider of drilling services and products for the global mining industry, said Tuesday that it has acquired Eklund Drilling Co.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Eklund, based in Elko, Nev., specializes in reverse circulation drilling. The company will add 31 rigs to the Boart Longyear fleet and 170 employees, including its management team, Boart Longyear said in a news release.
Craig Kipp, Boart Longyear's president and chief operating officer said Eklund is his company's fifth acquisition in the past year. "These acquisitions have expanded our geographic presence, improved our alignment with major mining companies and broadened our range of product offerings," he said.
