As sure as there will be snow this winter, so, too, will there be a Deseret News/KSL News Radio Ski/Snowboard School.

The first class will be Nov. 22. Registration will start Oct. 10. Once again, skiers will go to Alta and snowboarders will go to Snowbird.

This will be the 61st year for the ski program and the 10th year for the snowboard program.

There will be a couple of changes in this year's program.

First, there will be two sessions for the ski school each day. The school will be limited to 400 skiers.

Second, the snowboard program will be limited to 200 students.

As in years past, there will be three classes — Nov. 22, Dec. 6 and Dec. 13. Each class will run for about two hours. Cost of the three classes will be $40.

In recent years, there have been morning and afternoon snowboard classes. This year, the ski program will do the same.

The morning session for both skiing and snowboarding will start at 9:30 a.m. Morning registration will be open for 100 snowboarders and 200 skiers.

The afternoon session for both skiing and snowboarding will start at 1 p.m. Here again, class size will be limited to 100 snowboarders and 200 skiers.

Once again, Canyon Sports will partner with the Deseret News and KSL News Radio to offer special rental packages for those students needing equipment.

Students will be able to pick up their equipment prior to the first class, Nov. 22, and hold onto it until after the last class on Dec. 3. Cost for renting skis, boots, bindings and poles for the four weeks will be $34 for juniors and $39 for adults. And for a snowboard, bindings and boots, the cost for the four weeks will be $34 for juniors and $39 for adults. Those renting equipment will be able to apply those fees towards a full-season rental — $79.99 for juniors and $84.99 for adults for skis, and $84.99 for juniors and $89.99 for adults for snowboards.

Because of restrictions on class size for snowboarding, all registration is being handled by Canyon Sports. Forms will be available on Oct. 10.
