MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Minnesota Timberwolves center Jason Collins had surgery to repair a ruptured triceps tendon in his right elbow.
The team said Thursday that Collins was injured in a freak golf accident when his cart skidded on some wet ground and tipped over.
The Wolves acquired Collins in a draft-night deal with Memphis that also brought them Mike Miller, Brian Cardinal and rookie Kevin Love.
The former Stanford star, the twin brother of Utah Jazz center Jarron Collins, will miss all of training camp and the start of the regular season. He averaged 1.9 points and 2.4 rebounds for the Nets and Grizzlies last season.
