OREM — A 24-year-old Orem man is recovering after being hit Mondaynight while he was riding a motorized scooter without a helmet.

Jarauld Lowe was at the intersection of 1300 S. Geneva Road when a 20-year-old woman in a passenger car failed to yield and turned left in front of him, said Orem Police Lt. Doug Edwards.

The collision sent Lowe over his handlebars and 90 to 100 feet down the road where he injured his head.

When emergency personnel arrived just after 11 p.m.Monday, Lowe was conscious and combative, which is not atypical with head injuries, Edwards said.

Lowe was flown via medical helicopter to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.

Edwards said the female driver from Highland was cited for failure to yield.
