Three Taylorsville men were each charged with multiple felonies in 3rd District Court Friday based on an Aug. 14 drug-bust conducted by West Valley police that snared over a third-pound of cocaine and nearly two pounds of heroin.
The court filing alleges the men were using a residence near 3900 West and 6100 South to store, package and distribute the drugs throughout Salt Lake County. Police also confiscated almost $13,000 in cash and a 9-mm semi-automatic handgun from the home.
Some of the charges were levied with enhancements, since the residence is within 1,000 feet of Fox Hills Elementary School, making it a "drug-free zone" under Utah code. The added penalty raises the usual second-degree felony charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute to a first-degree felony.
