A 17-year-old Park City girl died Friday afternoon from injuries sustained in a rollover accident on I-80 near Jeremy Ranch.
Utah Highway Patrol trooper Cameron Roden said a witness told troopers that the driver had drifted into an adjacent eastbound lane, then over-corrected and rolled into the median, ejecting her from the car. Roden said the teen was not wearing a seat belt and was the only occupant of the vehicle.
Traffic was delayed briefly as an AirMed helicopter arrived to transport the critically injured teen to University Hospital, where she later died.
Roden said speed may have contributed to the accident and an investigation into the cause is under way.
The name of the teenhas not been released, pending notification of her family.
