PROVO — Police were looking for a man after they say he attempted to abduct a boy walking home from school Tuesday.

The 10-year-old boy was walking home from Lake View Elementary about 3:10 p.m., according to a statement from the Provo Police Department.

Near 2770 W. 1000 North, a man in a pickup truck told the boy that his mother was in the hospital and that the man was supposed to take him home, police said.

The boy ran from the man. Police were called, but the man was not found during a search of the area.

He was described as between 20 and 30 years old, with dark skin and black, curly hair. He had a black mustache and an earring in his right lobe.

Police said the man was wearing a black T-shirt with white lettering on the back and blue jeans. He was driving a light blue pickup truck.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 801-852-6210.
