PAROWAN Police have released the identity of the 11-year-old boy they believe was killed when he tried to cross a swollen creek in an all-terrain vehicle Saturday night.
Damian Miller's body was found near his home about 6:30 a.m. Sunday, Parowan police said.
The boy's father told police the boy left for an ATV ride about 8 p.m. Saturday, promising to return in an hour, said Parowan Police Chief Preston Griffiths.
The father awoke at about 1:30 a.m. and discovered the boy had not returned. Parowan police, along with some of the boy's family members and friends, began a search early Sunday morning and discovered the ATV submerged in a creek about a mile from the family's home. A family friend found the boy's body, also underwater, a short distance from the vehicle.
Griffiths said heavy rains moved through the area Saturday night at about the same time the boy was riding.
