LEHI — A violent tantrum through his mother's house landed a 19-year-old Lehi man in jail for investigation of criminal mischief and terroristic threats.

When police arrived at the Lehi home on Friday morning, they found a hole completely punched through a wall, a hole through a bedroom door, a smashed big-screen television, a bashed-up kitchen island and a broken glass door to the kitchen, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Police said the man became angry at his mother and then went through the house, causing more than $1,500 in damage. As he was leaving the home and the trail of destruction, he threatened to come back, kill her dogs and set her house on fire, the woman told police. Before getting into his car to leave, the man grabbed a gas can and put it in his car, the document said.

A brief time later, the man called police from Heber City and offered to turn himself in.
