BOUNTIFUL Fire investigators are sifting through the damage of a three-alarm fire at an RV repair shop, seeking a cause for the blaze.
"With these big motor homes, they're going to have to go through and look at them one by one," said Jeff Bassett, the deputy fire chief for South Davis Metro Fire.
The fire broke out about 11:30 p.m. Thursday at Bountiful RV, 1295 N. Main. A neighbor smelled smoke and called 911.
"When the first crew arrived, there were flames coming out the roof," said South Davis Metro Fire Chief Jim Rampton.
The business is a repair center for trailers, RVs and motor homes. Because the fire was so hot and concern over fuels inside the business, firefighters could not go into the building. Nearby homes were also briefly evacuated.
"It had seven motor homes in it, other cars and trucks," Rampton said. "They were all burnt up."
The building is considered a total loss.
