Jeffrey L. Reynolds, the former director of BYU football's media relations, has been named the head of communications for the conservative think tank Sutherland Institute.

"We are excited to have someone of Jeff's caliber and experience join Sutherland," said president Paul T. Mero.

During his time in Provo, Reynolds oversaw the retirement of Hall of Fame coach LaVell Edwards and the launch of the Web site byucougars.com.

He also served as an adjunct instructor in BYU's Marriott School of Management, teaching management communications.
