• Deron Williams tallied nine points, five assists and four rebounds and Carlos Boozer contributed six points and as many boards as the United States (5-0) completed Group B play in perfect fashion, sending Germany (1-4) home with a wallop. The U.S. advances to Wednesday's quarterfinals, set to face Australia.

Behind Andrew Bogut's 23 points in just 16 minutes of play, Australia (3-2) handed Lithuania (4-1) its first Olympics loss, 106-75. But the outcome had little bearing on quarterfinal seeding in Group A — Lithuania will still enter Wednesday's quarterfinals as the group's No. 1 seed and Australia its fourth and last qualifier.

• Raul Lopez played nearly 13 minutes and scored seven points with two rebounds and two assists as Spain (4-1) nearly doubled up Angola (0-5), 98-50.

After their 2007 European Championships title gave them high hopes going into the Olympics, Andrei Kirilenko and Russia (1-4) are headed home after their pool-ending 91-79 loss to defending champion Argentina (4-1). Kirilenko finished with a team-high 23 points on 8-of-19 shooting and added a Russia-best nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and a blocked shot.

• Jake Gibb and Sean Rosenthal suffered their first Olympics defeat in five matches, but it came in quarterfinals — 21-19, 21-16 to the Brazilian side of Ricardo-Emanuel, the defending Olympic champions — and resulted in their elimination from competition.

Men's volleyball

• Ryan Millar was the team points leader with five kills, four blocks and an ace and Rich Lambourne added four digs as the United States (5-0) swept Japan (0-5), 25-18, 25-13, 25-21. The Americans finished atop their group and will face Serbia in Wednesday's quarterfinals.

• Joel Silva and Venezuela (1-4) closed out their Olympics-debut appearance with a four-set loss to Bulgaria (3-2). Venezuela needed to beat Bulgaria and get some help from other match results to realize its slim hopes to advance to Wednesday's quarterfinals.

Volleyball

Logan Tom and the United States advance to the quarterfinals against Italy, which like the U.S. finished second in its six-team group. The winner advances to meet the Cuba-Serbia winner in the semifinals; the loser is eliminated.
