Afterthoughts

• The upcoming Democratic Demolition Derby in Denver, the clash in Colorado, the ruckus in the Rockies, the mile-high massacre — Hillary will allow Barack Obama's name in nomination for, yes, vice president of the United States.

• Why shouldn't she? Hillary understands that there might be a few Democrats leaning toward the young and pitifully inexperienced Illinois senator, who has a secret charm. Not as much as she has, but a charm nonetheless.

• This will happen on Tuesday night at her convention when Hill and Bill are scheduled to enthrall — as Barack and Michelle are back in their hotel watching it on TV in their pajamas.

• Demolition? Clash? Massacre? Please — let Democrats be Democrats. I want tear gas, billy clubs and Mayor Richard Daley Jr. going ballistic like his dad did in 1968.
