BEIJING — Logan Tom posted team highs of 18 kills and six blocks, leading the United States women's volleyball team to a five-set victory over Poland in the Beijing Olympics pool finale for both teams.

The Americans (4-1) fought off 1-0 and 2-1 deficits after the first and third sets before posting the 18-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-29, 15-13 triumph over Poland (1-4).

The victory solidified the United States' spot as the No. 2 team in Group A, facing the Russia (3-2), the third-place team from Group B in Tuesday's medal-round quarterfinals.

Poland is done for the Games, unable to advance past the preliminaries.

In other quarterfinal matchups, Cuba (5-0) went undefeated in five pool matches to take Group A's top berth and will meet Serbia (2-3).

Brazil (5-0) did the same atop Group B and will face Japan (2-3), while Group B's second-place Italy (4-1) will take on China (3-2).
