First down: BYU continued two-a-days Friday with a pair of practices as it gears up for today's scrimmage at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

Head-turner: The first-team defense shined Friday morning in 11-on-11 drills, holding quarterback Max Hall to 4-of-12 passing for 31 yards, and keeping the offense out of the end zone. But in the afternoon session, Hall rebounded by completing all six of his pass attempts for 100 yards and two touchdowns, including a 40-yarder to O'Neill Chambers.

Injury report: Defensive lineman Ian Dulan is nursing a shoulder injury and sat out of Friday's practice.
