The Utah Valley Symphony will hold auditions for its 50th season. The symphony will search for a concert master, French horns and a principal oboe. For more information and to schedule an appointment, contact 801-794-2961 or

• The American Fork Symphony has openings for all instruments including strings and percussion. For more information contact Maxine Steele at 801-756-2330.

Rehearsals are held each Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at American Fork Junior High School, 1120 N. 20 West. Rehearsals begin on Saturday, Sept. 6. The symphony's first concert will be Oct. 20.

• The Salt Lake Symphony is looking for musicians to audition for its 2008-09 season. Auditions will take place Tuesday, Aug. 26. Those wishing to schedule an audition should call Joyce Mahoney at 250-9419.

Musicians auditioning should prepare two contrasting pieces and be ready to sight read.
