SOUTH JORDAN — The South Jordan city manager has decided to take a job in his home state of Florida.

In more than eight years with South Jordan, Rick Horst oversaw the development of major commercial establishments and the location of major industrial complexes in the city, which has grown from a primarily agricultural area to a rapidly growing suburb.

Chief Operating Officer John Geilmann will act as South Jordan's interim city manager, according to a city statement. Gailmann also has served South Jordan as city attorney and has been a municipal administrator elsewhere in Utah.
