TOOELE A wildfire burning in the Stansbury Mountains is closer to being contained.
Firefighters said Wednesday the Little Bald Mountain fire is 80 percent contained. Crews had previously said the fire had burned 513 acres, but better mapping Wednesday showed the area was closer to 558, said Jennifer Myslivy of the Bureau of Land Management.
The lightning-caused fire is smoldering in brush and heavy timber, with crews having to deal with steep, rocky terrain to build fire lines.
The fire is threatening some homes but firefighters say they have strong lines protecting them from the fire, which is 2 miles away. Campgrounds and canyons in the area remain closed.
