First down: Coach Bronco Mendenhall cut short Wednesday morning's spirited practice session because of some hard hits delivered by a couple of defensive players that Mendenhall thought were uncalled for and he let his team know it. The Cougars hold their first practice in full pads today.
Head-turner: Defensive back Andrew Rich made plays during 11-on-11 noncontact drills and saw action with the second-team defense. Linebacker Coleby Clawson is pushing the first-teamers for playing time. Freshman Matt Reynolds took most of the reps at left tackle.
Injury report: No new significant injuries.
