SANDY — Normally a smile and a wave 'hello' constitute a pleasant greeting in the morning. But not when the person waving is a naked stranger.

Just before 7 a.m. Tuesday, six women were working out at Curves, 8532 S. 1300 East, when a man about age 60 jogged by, said Sandy Police Sgt. Victor Quezada. The manager of the business spotted the man and noticed he was wearing a green baseball cap backwards, a pair of tennis shoes — and nothing else.

"She wasn't sure if he was completely naked," Quezada said.

Five minutes later, the man jogged past the workout facility again, and this time he stopped to smile and wave at the women inside. Quezada said this time the women had no doubt about what the man was, and wasn't, wearing.

The search for the naked jogger continued Wednesday. Anyone with information can call police at 840-4000.

Although it may have seemed like a harmless prank, Quezada said, investigators were concerned because there could have been children present during the au natural morning run.
