HOLLADAY A man was in fair condition after police say he was stabbed multiple times by the woman he lives with early this morning. Now investigators are trying to figure out exactly what happened.
Deputies were called at 8 a.m. to the Chateau Foret apartments, near 4800 South and 1800 East, on a report of a domestic-related fight and stabbing. When they arrived they found a 35-year-old man with multiple stab wounds to the chest and back, said Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Paul Jaroscak.
The man's left lung was punctured. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was scheduled to have surgery.
While questioning both the victim and the 29-year-old woman who was believed to have stabbed the man, investigators learned the man had actually suffered his injuries 90 minutes to two hours prior to calling 911, Jaroscak said.
At first the man said he was walking back to his apartment this morning from a local convenience store and was attacked and stabbed, Jaroscak said. But after examining the evidence and questioning the people involved, detectives determined that story wasn't true, he said.
Two children, both under age 5, also live in the house and were taken into protective custody, Jaroscak said.
Two knives were found in the area, one inside and one outside the apartment, Jaroscak said. One of the knives had blood on it.
Jaroscak did not know as of this morning if the couple have a history of domestic violence incidences, but neighbors told the Deseret News they have heard loud arguing in the apartment in the past.
No arrests had been made by mid-morning.
