Salt Lake Bees: Alvarado placed on DL, Ortega promoted from Arkansas
Alvarado, 30, has appeared in 22 games for the Bees in 2008, owning a 6-4 record and 3.94 ERA with 113 strikeouts. The Santurce, Puerto Rico native signed with the Angels in 2008.
Ortega, 22, has appeared in 22 games for the Travelers in 2008, owning a 9-7 record with a 3.73 ERA with 83 strikeouts. The Ocumare Del Tuy, Venezuela native signed with the Angels as a nondrafted free agent in 2003. His first appearance with Salt Lake will be his Triple-A debut.
The 68-47 Salt Lake Bees continue an eight-game road trip tonight against the Iowa Cubs at 6:05 p.m.
