PROVO — Bronco Mendenhall opened BYU's fall camp today with an early morning conditioning test session and star junior receiver Austin Collie opened camp on the sidelines due to a stress fracture in his leg.

The Cougars will welcome 24 newcomers to the program at 3:30 p.m today, followed by a regular practice session without pads that includes all team members.

Collie, the star of the famed fourth-and-18 catch in LaVell Edwards Stadium last fall that helped BYU hold off Utah in the regular season finale, is expected to be held out of many drills in the next few weeks while his leg heals. In addition, starting linebacker Matt Bauman will be "slowed" by a foot injury he received in a scooter accident.
