Congratulations to the Deseret News and writer Jaclyn Olsen on the article in sports (July 28) titled "Good Sportsmanship." How refreshing to read an article commending two players from the Central Washington softball team. It seems a player on the opposing Western Oregon team hit a ball over the fence but fell at first base, injuring her knee so badly she could not continue. Rules prevented coaches from helping her, but two members of the Central Washington team lifted her up and carried her around to touch each base and then home. It is all the more remarkable in that the conference championship was won by the team of the injured player because of her home run.
