A West Valley City man has been charged with breaking into a woman's apartment and raping her earlier this week.
On Monday, the 31-year-old man entered through the window of an apartment near 3800 West and Rockwood Way (3390 South), hit a woman in the back of the head and forced her to have sex, according to charges filed Wednesday in 3rd District Court.
The man, who lives in the apartment complex, had told people the woman was his girlfriend, but the victim told police she was not romantically involved with the man, court documents state.
The man told the victim he would kill her if she reported the incident to police, according to the charges. He faces one count of aggravated sexual assault, a first-degree felony, and one count of burglary, a second-degree felony.
