OGDEN One of the women killed in a double-murder here will be buried this weekend in Florida.
A funeral service for Rosanna Cruz, 25, will be held on Sunday in her home town of LaBelle, Fla., family members said. The funeral will happen as soon as Cruz's cremated remains are sent east.
"I had a hard time getting her home when she was alive, and I'm having a hard time getting her home now," Lily Torres, Cruz's mother, said Tuesday.
Cruz was working as a prostitute on Ogden's Adams Avenue when she was shot and killed. Another woman, Teresa Tingey, 43, also was slain a block away. Accused killer Jacob Daniel Ethridge, 31, is charged with both deaths and is currently undergoing a mental evaluation.
Cruz's family is struggling to pay for her funeral. An account has been set up in the name of Cruz's sister, Mary Berden, at the Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union. Donations can be sent in Berden's name in care of the credit union to P.O. Box 11904, Tampa, FL 33680-1904.
