A man and a woman were arrested Friday at the Motel 6 at 1990 W. North Temple in connection with a death in El Dorado County, Calif.

The two were found at the hotel during a routine Division of Motor Vehicles search for stolen vehicles. When the DMV officers ran the plate, they found the occupants of the car were wanted for questioning in the California killing. They contacted Salt Lake police for assistance.

The two people were arrested without incident. Each had suffered multiple injuries, the woman from lacerations and the man from gunshot wounds.

They were taken to a local hospital, according to Salt Lake Police Lt. Scott White.

Detectives from El Dorado County were en route to Utah Friday to question them. White said a gun was recovered from the motel, but he doesn't know if it was involved in the killing.
