"It's a significant corporate headquarters," Oldroyd said. "With this expansion, our goal is to keep them here. They could put this expansion anywhere in the world. It would be just as easy to put it anywhere where they have operations, but they would like to keep it in Utah, and obviously we would, too."

The board also awarded a $1.9 million tax credit over 10 years to Reckitt Benckiser to build a 600,000- to 650,000-square-foot distribution and logistics center in rural Utah. Reckitt Benckiser is the parent company for Lysol, Woolite, Spray & Wash, Electrasol, Air Wick, Mucinex, Delsum and French's.

Oldroyd said the company is considering several sites, but board documents said the 140 new jobs that the $35 million center would produce would pay 25 percent above the Tooele County median wage.

The GOED Board approved three allocations from the Rural Broadband Service Fund to get high-speed Internet service to several areas:

• $93,328 to UBTA-UBET Communications toward the total cost of $186,656 of adding the service to 164 potential subscribers in the Arcadia, Pleasant Valley and Antelope Canyon areas of Duchesne County.

• $35,500 to Qwest Corp. toward the total cost of $71,000 to serve 984 potential subscribers in parts of Mona, Juab County, and Glenwood, Sevier County.

• $24,322 to Beehive Telephone Co. toward the overall project cost of $49,133 to serve 67 potential subscribers in Grouse Creek, Box Elder County.

Board members stressed that the rural broadband projects could attract businesses to those areas.

The board also awarded an rebate of up to $500,000 to Go Films from the state's Motion Picture Incentive Fund to shoot the independent feature film "Saints and Soldiers: The Void" in Alpine. The company's spending in Utah is expected to total $3.5 million.
