Romney is an associate in the Business and Finance Department and a member of the Securities Group, Mergers and Acquisitions Group, Life Sciences Group and Private Equity Group. Prior to joining Ballard Spahr, he was an associate with a law firm in Boston. Burt concentrates his practice in commercial litigation. His education includes a degree from the University of Utah. Weiland focuses on litigation.
• Simon Pearson has been named manager of the Rose Park branch of Mountain America Credit Union. Pearson previously was the assistant manager at the Holladay branch. He brings more than three years of financial industry experience to the position.
• David N. Nilson and Margareta Hjorth-Vlasic have been named senior associates at MHTN Architects Inc. Nilson has 14 years of experience, including three years at MHTN. Hjorth-Vlasic has been at MHTN for seven years and has 20 years of professional experience.
• Leon Nelson has been promoted to operations manager at Big-D Construction's Lindon office, and Larry Rice has joined the company as project manager for the company's Fastrack group. With 17 years of construction experience, Nelson has been with Big-D for more than a year as a senior project manager. His education includes a degree from Utah State University. Rice has been in the construction industry for 15 years as a laborer, assistant superintendent, superintendent, assistant project manager and project manager.
• Gena Jones has been promoted to senior vice president and credit management manager at Zions Bank. She will be in the bank's Main Street office downtown. Jones is responsible for managing the credit management and recovery departments within the bank. She has nearly 19 years of experience with Zions Bank. She has been a commercial loan workout officer since 1992. Her education includes studying at the University of Utah.
• Sam Stroman has been hired as art director at Riester. He began his career as a production designer and has four years of experience in project management, Flash, HTML, Photoshop and copywriting. His education includes a degree form Utah State University.
• Stephen Brown has joined BNA Consulting as a project manager. Stephen has designed architectural lighting and control systems, low-voltage electrical distribution systems, emergency power generation, uninterruptible power supply systems and fire alarm systems.
