Larry H. Miller's eldest son Greg Miller has been promoted to chief executive officer of the Sandy-based Larry H. Miller Group of Companies, which includes the Jazz.

The group has also formed a governing board with Larry H. Miller as chairman of the board, it was announced today.

Larry Miller, who has been hospitalized for more than a month due to complications from his type-2 diabetes, "will stay heavily involved in the strategic direction of the company," according to a news release.

"Greg has done an excellent job of learning all aspects of the company and Gail and I feel that he is ready for this opportunity to play a stronger role in the future of the organization," Larry Miller said in a statement released by the company. "I will continue to maintain a hands-on role in the company, but my position as chairman of the board will allow me to spend more time outside of the office with my wife Gail and our family as well as devoting more time to our philanthropic endeavors."

According to the statement, "Miller is making steady progress in his recovery from recent medical complications."
