MANCHESTER, N.Y. — The annual Hill Cumorah Pageant is a truly family affair for the Tuttles of Honeoye Falls, N.Y.

For the past week, Boyd and Holly Tuttle, with seven of their nine children, have begun their 14-hour days by hopping into their van — "the Tuttle Shuttle" — for a 21-mile drive to the site of the pageant at Hill Cumorah.

They are among the 800 volunteers who make up the cast and staff of the pageant, which is based on the Book of Mormon and begins tonight. The Tuttles seem to thrive on this annual gathering that is not only a religious experience but also a time to make and renew friendships.

"It's just a really uplifting, invigorating, enjoyable experience," said Boyd Tuttle, 47, who is a partner in a micro-publishing company when he is not volunteering for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the formal name for the Mormon church.
