A bicyclist is suing Salt Lake City for injuries he sustained when he crashed into a parked city maintenance truck last year.
James Lloyd was riding his bike down City Creek Canyon Road in September when he came around a blind corner and crashed into a truck that was improperly parked and blocking the lane, according to a lawsuit filed this week in 3rd District Court.
Lloyd suffered several injuries and had to undergo surgery, according to the suit, which names the city and the truck driver as defendants. His injuries included a hip fracture and severe lacerations to his right elbow and hand.
He is seeking damages, to be determined at trial, because the city did not train or supervise its employees about safety in the canyon.
