A sampling of athletic directors' pay
Chris Hill, Utah: $293,601 In 20 years as AD at Utah, Hill has seen a huge transition in the athletic department. More than 11 facilities have been built or revamped under his watch. He's seen the Utes compete on a national stage in many sports, most notably the 1998 NCAA Men's basketball title game, the 2004 Fiesta Bowl, and numerous times in gymnastics and skiing. In 2002, the program was tabbed as top 20 overall by U.S. News and World report.
Tom Holmoe, BYU As a private institution, the university did not make Holmoe's salary available.
Scott Barnes, USU: $216,300 Made $160,400 as associate AD at UW. Lowest-paid AD in the WAC.
Jerry Graybeal, Weber State: $124,900 Former WSU football coach has been at his post since 2005. Has 25 years' experience in the Big Sky Conference.
Michael Jacobsen, UVU: $99,494 Guided the Wolverines through the transition to Division I and as a university.
Ken Beazer, Southern Utah: $97,603 Former USU assistant AD was responsible for the renovation of Romney Stadium. Been AD at SUU since 2005.
Norma Carr, SLCC: $77, 432 Also serves as MWC director of volleyball officials.
Dexter Irvin, Dixie: $68,490
Dave Paur, CEU: $59,263 Golden Eagles head man for a decade; coached women's basketball for almost two.
NATIONAL AD SALARIES
Jeremy Foley, Florida: $1.2 million Former Gator ticket office intern was responsible for $155 million in capital improvements. Since 1967 has been involved in every aspect of the Gator athletic department. Really, if you build it, they WILL come, straight to Gainesville.
Randy Spetman, Florida State: $600,000 Former Air Force, USU AD started the $12.5 million student-athlete facility at Romney Stadium and helped get the Aggies into the WAC. He was making $214,242 at USU last year.
Mitch Barnhart, Kentucky: $475,000 Hired in 2002, Barnhart was able to fully fund each of UK's athletic programs, which was helped by signing a $80 million multimedia rights agreement. Finally, sports other than basketball can compete in the SEC.
