PLEASANT VIEW, Weber County — A chase for a stolen car ended in a fiery crash here.

It began about 10 a.m. Monday when Tremonton police attempted to stop a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier for speeding, Box Elder County sheriff's dispatchers said. The car took off, leading police on a chase down U.S. 89.

"We spiked the tires and it continued south on 89," said Utah Highway Patrol trooper Cameron Roden. "He wrecked into a canal near the Weber-Box Elder line."

The car caught fire, dispatchers said. The UHP said the driver of the stolen car was arrested and taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
