WEST VALLEY CITY Police shot and killed an armed robber who had taken a female clerk hostage during an afternoon heist at a jewelry store.
West Valley Police Capt. Tom McLachlan said the man robbed the Pailin Jewelry Store, 3585 S. Redwood Road this afternoon.
Officers arriving on the scene to the report of an alarm confronted the man, who had a female clerk with him as he was trying to leave.
During the next few tense moments, the clerk managed to break away from the gunman and flee just before the shooting.
