SARATOGA SPRINGS Police here have arrested a woman they say fabricated a story about an armed robbery.
On June 15 about 1:37 a.m., the 20-year-old Eagle Mountain woman, who worked at the Saratoga Springs Arctic Circle, reported that an armed robbery was in progress. According to police, the woman said she was walking through the Smith's parking lot to the Zions Bank with a daily cash deposit when she was confronted by two males. She told police one of the men had a knife and forced her to give them the money bag. Police said they now believe the story was concocted.
She was arrested on June 18 on investigation of theft, filing a false police report and providing a false written statement to police. The woman was booked into Utah County Jail. Police said the woman's false alarm resulted in the wasted resources of four law enforcement agencies, including a K-9 unit and a tactical response unit.
