TOOELE A mother accused of killing her 14-month-old adopted son has struck a plea deal with prosecutors.
Kimberly Emalyantsev, 33, pleaded guilty on Friday to a charge of child abuse homicide, a second-degree felony. According to 3rd District Court records, Emalyantsev pleaded guilty to a reduced charge. Tooele County prosecutors also dismissed a related child abuse charge. Criminal charges against Emalyantsev's husband, Fyodor, were also dismissed.
She will be sentenced on Aug. 8.
Prosecutors said the baby, who was adopted in February, died of blunt force trauma to the head. Another adopted child a 4-year-old was hospitalized for malnourishment.
