Utah
BASEBALL: After five seasons as the University of Utah assistant baseball coach, Bryan Conger has accepted the head coaching job at his alma mater, Tarleton State.
Conger has been Utah's pitching coach the last five years. While working with the hurlers for the Crimson and White, Conger mentored two all-conference pitchers (Josh Cooper and Stephen Fife).
"I'm really proud of Bryan," said Utah head coach Bill Kinneberg. "This is a dream come true for him. He gets the chance to return home to coach his alma mater, and there's nothing better than that. I couldn't be happier for him or his family.
"We'll begin a search for a new assistant coach immediately."
Conger played three years at Tarleton State (1993-95). He earned his bachelor's degree in 1995.
Junior college

Beck previously coached at Southern Utah and Dixie State before joining Norm Parrish at SLCC last season.
