MURRAY A motorcyclist is in critical condition after careening into the front of a vehicle Saturday.
Witnesses told police the man had been seen speeding on the motorcycle, which was heading north on 1300 East at 5500 South at about 6 p.m. The male rider hit a car turning left and was thrown from the bike, landing about 60 feet from the point of impact, said Murray police officer Matt Black.
The car veered into another car; however, no one else was injured.
The cyclist was not wearing a helmet and suffered multiple injuries, including a broken arm and leg and severe head trauma. He was taken by ambulance to Intermountain Medical Center where he was expected to undergo surgery, Black said.
Roads were closed for nearly an hour while crews cleared the scene of the accident. Officer Black said the accident remained under investigation and citations were pending.
